Crescent Ballroom has speedily become a local favorite among music fans in Arizona. With great food, drinks, and amazing music, there is always something going on. Recently, the Rock Local Lunch Break, hosted by the TMI Radio Show, has been bringing local acoustic performances from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. to accompany your Tuesday afternoons.
On this particular Tuesday, we were treated to the acoustic sounds of Adam Bruce, the lead singer and keyboard/guitarist of the local band Mergence.
Playing a slew of stripped down songs that any Mergence fan could recognize, and a few I’ve never heard before, Adam showed off his fantastic vocal skills and gave the crowd, ranging from 20 somethings to desk jockeys in their 40s, a much needed break from their work schedule.
I found a new appreciation for each song, some noticeably lacking the backing of a full band, but most coming into their own as truly amazing acoustic solos. As I munched on my $5 Burrito/Beer combo, I found myself at ease and enthralled by the music and the comfortable vibe that Crescent Ballroom does so well.
Instead of stuffing my face with as much food as I could before I was forced to go back to work, this wonderful lunch time show gave me a much needed relaxing break, away from any work stress, and into the head bobbing acoustic talent of Adam Bruce. I’ll definitely be back.
If you haven’t yet, check out Crescent Ballroom’s lunch special, which consists of a burrito and beer for just $5. Because, who doesn’t love a beer in the middle of the day?
